Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing)

Portable Appliance Testing or PAT testing is carried out to any kind of electrical equipment which derives its power via a flexible cable and/or plug top. The most common being a 13 amp, 3 pin plug top Examples of these are: Computers, kettles, fridges, photo-copiers, lamps, fans, heaters, TVs, DVDs, toasters, hand held tools, mobile phone chargers etc.

As an experienced electrical safety testing company undertaking in excess of 300,000 tests per year, we offer a complete testing service to ensure that your electrical equipment safe for use and functioning properly.

We are also able to complete any ‘minor repairs’ that may be required such as plug replacements, fuse or plug changes and cord repairs.

All test engineers are qualified to a minimum City & Guilds 2377 part 2 Certificate of Portable Appliance Testing and Repairs and/or certified by the National Association for Professional Inspectors and Testers (NAPIT). This meets the standard requirement of the HSE, insurance companies etc.

The tests to the equipment shall be carried out in accordance with the “Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment” Fourth Edition, as published by the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Should you require us to then, we are also able to undertake Microwave Emission Leakage Testing either in conjunction with the PAT Testing or as a separate project.
